Solar Powered - Pilot Activated - Airfield Lighting

AG lights have been designed for the Agricultural Aviation Industy to mark the corners of cotton fields for night spraying operations.

AG lights are left in position throughout the spay season eleminating the need for someone to mark the field at the time of spraying. AG lights are activated from the aircraft via an encoder which plugs into the mic-jack. You can designate different codes to identify different fields, or farms. With the aircraft comm selected to 120.55, the encoder will transmit a signal over the comm utilising the "press to talk" function of the mic-jack.

Activation of Ag lights can also be acheived with the press to talk switch on the control column/stick. Activate the lights with two two second impulses one second apart, followed by a third impulse of eight seconds long or until the lights activate. All the lights within range will be activated

Warning: Not all mic-jacks have the "press to talk function" wired in. The "press to talk" function must be installed for the encoder to work.

Installation: A 1.8 meter long sections of 6" DWV pipe, sealed at one end with a cap, forms the light stand. The pipe is dug into the ground to a depth of two feet to support the pipe vertically. Alternatively a star picket can be hammered into the ground and attached to the light stand with cable ties. A 7amp/hour 12V AGM battery is housed within the pipe and the light is placed on top.
          Remove the AG light's back cover to set the code on the dip-switch. After pluging the light in on location, turn power switch on (LED will blink once). Turn the squelch knob anti-clockwise until the green LED illuminates. Turn the knob clockwise until the LED just goes out, then continue to turn the knob a further 1/16th of a turn. Test the light with a hand held transmitter using the emergency activation code.

AG lights can be hired for $50 per season. The service includes delivery of refurbished and tested lights before the season begins, supply of encoders, and collection at seasons end.
