Our windsock swivel-frame features overhead positioned spot-beam LED lighting. The entire frame rotates with the windsock, so the lights are focused on the windsock at all times. Four 27 Watt LED spot-lights provide greater than 100 lux across the windsock in all wind conditions. Making our lighted windsocks truelly visable from the air.

The windsock swivel-frame incoorporates a balanced windvane. The windvane enhances the sensitivity of the windsock to read true in the slightest breeze. The counter-balance weight provides stability, ensuring the windsock indicates accurately even if the windsock pole is not perfectly vertical.

We use and recommend Windwerks aviation wind indicators for their superior quality of material and constuction. We attach these to our frame with stainless steel P-clamps, so no broken cable ties or rattling D-shackles.

The lights are able to rotate with the windsock because power is transferred through a slip-ring capsule inside the bearing housing. This has a big advantage over older designs which have slip-rings and brushes mounted externally and exposed to the weather. The bearings and slip-ring capsule are heavy duty and are expected to last a lifetime. The slip-ring capsule is easily accessed for replacement and the bearing housing can be dissasembled for bearing replacement.

The windsock swivel-frame mounts on top of a hinged mast. The mast assembly incoorporates a detachable winch for lowereing the windsock to ground level for maintenance. Maintenance of the windsock is a one man operation and the entire windsock assembly can be erected by two men without heavy machinery.

The windsock mast has mountings for a 40 Watt solar panel and an electricians enclosure that contains a 70 amp.hour battery and the light control box. The light control box is of a modular design and can be easily repaired, if need be, by replacing the necessary module from your spares kit.
